I’ve had the chance to work with Sage before and even one of her pals. Still lots of woofs and their humans seemed like quite a challenge. But it was a challenge for a good cause as the team gathered their owners together for Santa Paws around Virginia Water. All in aid of the Labrador Lifeline Trust. I have to say that I love photographing dogs and their owners. The bond is so lovely to see. All those incredible personalities gathered in one place. Some from troubled places. Others with a few scars of their own. But all of them just enjoying being in one big gang. A brief moment. But I kept thinking what a huge pleasure it was to be in their world for a while.
A huge round of a”paws” has to go to Aly for organising all of this. Amazing really. Of course it’s fair to say that one doggy who was missed (no doubt there are others) was Charley. I hope he stopped chasing his ball for a second to look down – I am sure he would have woofed in delight. Like so many pets, they never really leave us. That memory is always there. The lead on the hook. The bowl on the floor.
So here’s to next year and my apologies if I didn’t quite get an image of your special pal. Perhaps next time. I will blame being licked, jumped on, getting covered in water and well generally crawling around at nose level! I mean being licked in the ear by one woof whilst photographing another – now that IS a memory!
