HelpAnswers to common questions about my prints
Frequently asked questions
Please explain your print sizes
Selecting an appropriate print size can be confusing, but hopefully this will make things clearer. Many cameras today take photos in a 3:2 ratio. This means the long side is 1.5 times longer than the short side. For this reason, 6×4” has become a popular size for standard prints. Images can be printed in a variety of sizes but the ratios will vary. For example, 10×8″ prints have a 5:4 ratio. The long side is only 1.25 times longer than the short side. The photo will appear squarer and cropped at the sides. Most of my images are shot in a 3:2 or 4:3 ratio and I have restricted the print size offering to reflect this, offering 9×6″, 12×8″, 18×12″ and 24×16″ You can opt to receive the print mounted. The mount width will be dependent on the size of the chosen print. Please see the table below for approximate sizings.
|Print Size||Mount Size||Approx Total Size|
|9×6||1.5||11.75 x 8.75″|
|12×8||1.5||15.75 x 11.75″|
|18×12||2.5||21.75 x 15.75″|
|24×16||2.5||28.75 x 20.75″|
All mounting boards are 95% acid free and will be provided with backing board as standard. If you order double mounts then the overall image size will increase by up to 1.5″ on all sides
Please note that not all images in the galleries will conform perfectly to the paper sizes offered. The crop will be made trying to preserve the longest side and will endeavour to make best use of paper and composition. The image previews are low resolution copies and may therefore not be a true representation of the final printed colours. Please note that due to differences in computer monitor calibrations and viewing environments exact colour matches cannot be guaranteed.
Explain the mount boards used
The mounts are made from archival acid free boards. I typically use white. Mount board is also used behind the picture as well. The mount will be signed by myself. When you receive your print I urge you to use gloves to handle it or take it directly to the framer of your choice.
Can I request a different print / mount size?
