This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use guyaubertin.com or work with me, how I use it, and the rights you have over it. Last updated 18 September 2026.
Who I am
I'm Guy Aubertin, a photographer based in Wokingham, Berkshire, trading as Guy Aubertin Photography. I am the data controller for the information described here, and you can reach me at [email protected].
The information I collect
- When you enquire: your name, email address, phone number, and the details you give me about your wedding, shoot or order.
- When you book or buy: your contact details, billing and delivery address, event details, and order or contract information.
- When you pay: payments are handled by my payment provider, Stripe. I receive confirmation of payment, but I do not see or store your full card details.
- Your photographs: the images I take of you, and at weddings and events of your guests, which I hold as part of delivering your work.
- Client galleries: the details needed to give you and your guests access to a private online gallery.
- When you use the website: standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and, if you agree to analytics cookies, information about how you use the site.
How I use it, and my lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote: my legitimate interest in responding, and taking steps to enter into a contract.
- To carry out the work you have booked and fulfil your orders: to perform our contract.
- To take payment and keep proper accounting and tax records: to perform our contract, and to meet my legal obligations.
- To host and deliver your online gallery: to perform our contract.
- To show examples of my work on my website, portfolio and social media: my legitimate interest in promoting my photography. For weddings and portraits I ask your consent first, and you can tell me at any time if you would prefer your images not to be used.
- To send you the occasional update, only if you have asked me to: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To understand and improve how the website is used: your consent, given through the cookie banner.
Your photographs
Photographs of you and your guests are personal data. I keep the images from your booking so that I can deliver them, reprint them, and, where you are happy for me to, show a selection as examples of my work. If you would like your images kept private, or removed from my website or social media, just ask.
Who I share it with
I only share your information where I need to in order to run my business: my website host, Stablepoint; my payment provider, [Stripe / Sytist Payments]; Google, for website analytics, if you accept analytics cookies; and occasionally a professional print lab where an order is fulfilled that way, though I hand-print most work myself. I do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers, for example Google, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, that data is protected by an adequacy decision or by standard contractual clauses, as UK data protection law requires.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies that make it work, for example keeping items in your cart and keeping you logged in, and, with your consent, Google Analytics cookies that help me see how the site is used. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies through the banner, and change your mind at any time in your browser settings.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to [12 to 24 months].
- Client, booking and order records: up to six years after our work together, to meet accounting and tax rules.
- Your photographs: kept as part of my archive unless you ask me to remove them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me to: give you a copy of your information; correct anything that is wrong; delete it; restrict or object to how I use it; or provide it in a portable format. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these, email me at [email protected]. If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
I take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, and I work only with providers who do the same.
Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
